2 Year Well Check

Yesterday we took Molly to the doctor for her check up. She now hates to go to the doctor. When we were getting dressed to go she said "Stay home! No doctor!" She was fine in the room until the nurse came in. She screamed when she had to get measured and weighed. Then she wouldn't let the doctor touch her. Ava tried to convince her that everything was okay but that didn't matter! She got two shots and she screamed at the top of her lungs! Thankfully she is done with shots until she is 4! The best news of the visit is that her two year molars are in! Thank goodness. Maybe that can account for the crankiness for the past couple of weeks?? Or is that just because she's 2???
I guess the nickname Molly Mouse still fits. She is still as tiny as a mouse. She weighs 24lbs 15oz which is in the 25th percentile and is 32 3/4 inches tall (also 25th!) So little but I love it! I hope she stay petite her whole life!!

Princesses, Princesses, and more Princesses

Today we had the final party for Molly. This was a party with friends. We picked a great day to have it at the park. Molly had so much fun with all her friends! Thanks to everyone who came; hope you had as much fun as we did! Molly had to wear the winter hat that Aunt Jaclyn and Uncle Ryan gave her. It wasn't cold out but she wouldn't take it off!

Happy Birthday Sweet Girl!

I am now the proud Mommy of a two year old! I can't believe Molly is two already. Where did the time go? She is such a sweet little girl. So compassionate and loves I mean LOVES her big sister. When you ask her how old she is she will say that she is three. Trying to keep up with Ava as much as she can and watching everything that she does, she sometimes seems like she is three. She loves to sing and dance, dress up in her princess clothes, and loves to cuddle and give kisses. And this is her new look. Although it looks like she is mad, this is the look she gets when she is thinking.

I have declared this "birthday weekend". This morning and afternoon was spent at the zoo with Marie, John and Claire. It was so much fun watching the kids run from cage to cage to look at the animals. And of course, posing for pictures! Thanks for a great day you three!!

Tonight we went to Red Robin for dinner with Ma Ma and Pa Pa.

Since it was a "party" weekend, the girls decided that they would celebrate by wearing their princess dresses. Because it was a special occasion I didn't object!

The staff sang Happy Birthday to Molly and she loved every minute of it. And what a treat-a birthday sundae with fudge and sprinkles!!

And of course Ma ma and Pa Pa came bearing gifts for BOTH girls!

And the celebration continues on Sunday with another party for Molly!
Happy Birthday Sweet Pea! We love you!!

Noah's Ark

The students at Ava's school have been studying Noah's ark for a couple of weeks now. The read, sang songs and learned all about the ark. So, today was party day. The entire school had a Noah's Ark party. There were treats and food galore. Ava's favorite was the cake. She said that she didn't like the celery! The best part was that they got to pick an animal and dress up. Ava decided to be a cow(actually, I decided for her since I found a cow costume). She looked very cute! There were all kinds of cute "animals" at school. Because we were in a rush getting out of the house this morning, I only took a few of Ava. I was hoping to get a few of her classmates after school. No such luck. When Molly and I arrived to pick Ava up, all the kids and teachers had changed out of their costumes. I guess that I wouldn’t want to wear my costume in 80 degree weather either!

Mr. Biggs

Last weekend, Mike took the girls to Mr. Biggs while I was at book club. I forgot that he bought a disposable camera. So, here are the pictures. Too cute not to share!

Weekend Away

Mike and I spent the weekend up in Breckenridge with a group of our friends. This is the 6th annual marriage retreat. It is so nice to get away from everyday life and focus on our marriage. It was so refreshing. And it was beautiful in the mountains! Sunny and warm. We couldn't have asked for a better group of friends to spend the weekend with.
The girls got to spend the weekend with Grandma. Grandpa was in Texas for a fishing tournament. They had so much fun! Grandma wore them out. They always have fun playing with Grandma's toys and with her dogs. Thanks Mom!

So sorry about the pictures. I forgot my camera and had to get them from others. I can't figure out how to get the pictures bigger. Lesson learned-bring my own camera next time!

Hungry Ducks

Since today was such a beautiful day, I decided to take the girls to the park. So, I picked Ava up from school, we ate lunch and headed to Redstone, the girls' favorite park. We spent a lot of time there this summer so, we have the same routine every time we go. First we head directly to the water to look for "Coco". At the beginning of the summer we saw a turtle on a stump in the middle of the pond and Molly named him. So, we have to go and find him first before we can play. The funny thing is that we have only seen him once! After we walk around the water, then it's time to play on the equipment. Today, I brought some stale crackers to feed to the ducks. As we walked up to the ducks, they all got up and started quacking and running towards us. Honestly, I was a bit scared. I wasn't sure why they were running at us. Were we invading their space? Did they have nests? The girls thought this was hilarious.

So, I opened up the bag of crackers as quickly has I could. I don't know people have stopped feeding the ducks since it has gotten cooler or what. But, these ducks were the hungriest ducks I have ever seen. The girls and I couldn't feed them fast enough. They were fighting over the crackers and quacking loudly. They even went through the plastic bag looking for more when the crackers were gone. The ducks finally got the hint when the girls chased them into the water.

Then we got to play. It was great being at the park when it wasn't crowded and wasn't so hot either. I love the fall and am going to miss these days when winter comes!

Weekend

This weekend was busy as usual. On Saturday, I had book club so Mike had a Daddy's day with the girls. He took them out for lunch and to Mr. Biggs. They have lots of kids stuff to do there. They dressed up in princess clothes, jumped in bouncy castles, and played in the ball pit. I am not sure who had more fun, the girls or Mike. He forgot the camera so we have no pictures. Even though I didn't like the book, I enjoyed getting together with the girls of the Sassy Book Club.
On Sunday, we drove to Broomfield for a birthday party at Pump It Up. The girls had soo much fun. Molly actually went inside the jumping castles and down the slides by herself. Ava enjoyed being chased by whoever would chase her and posing for pictures. The adults at the party were marveling how great it was that our kids are getting older so that we can chat while the kids are playing!! Mike and I did have to take the girls down the slide a couple of times-just to try it out!!
Thanks for the pictures Annalise!!

Bikes and Potties

We really didn't have any big plans for the weekend. That turned out to be a good thing for a few reasons. Molly was sick on Friday and Saturday. Ava is back in school for a week and brings home kid germs. I think it must have been a stomach bug of some kind. Just a 24 hour thing. For some reason this weekend everyone decided that they wanted to view our house. My theory is that if my house is clean, bring on the showings. So, we had 5 this weekend! Thank God we had my parents house to go to hang out. It was really hard to plan anything around all of the showings. My mom and I did manage to go to the parade of homes on Sunday. It was a bit of a disappointment. Not only was it packed, making it hard to even move around in the houses, it was 90 degrees. After seeing three of the houses, they all started to look the same. It was nice to get away while Mike stayed home with the girls. On Monday, we had a fun cookout with Grandma and Grandpa!

Two major milestones happened for Ava and Molly this weekend. Ava, being the last weekend of the summer, finally decided to ride her bike (with training wheels of course)! Mike and I tried and tried to get her to ride it last summer. We gave up and decided to let her ride on her own. It has taken me four years to realize that she is not a kid who will be pushed to do anything that she doesn't want to do. Everything will happen on her time. She is a great rider but her legs get tired very quickly. And we still need to practice our steering. Riding on our street is especially hard since it is so hilly. Molly was right there helping her big sister when she needed a little push!

On Saturday night, Ava and I went to church while Mike stayed home with Molly. When we got home did I ever get a surprise! Molly decided that she was ready to use the potty. She tells us that she has to go potty a lot now and runs to the bathroom to sit on her little potty. Most of the time it is a false alarm or she has already gone in her diaper. This time, Mike took of her diaper and she actually pooped in her potty! She was so proud of herself! And so were we. I really doubt that she is ready for the big girl pants but, it's a start.
