The North Pole

So, I am about a week behind in posting these pictures but here goes. At the last minute last Sunday, we decided to head up to Pikes Peak. At the base of the mountain is this great place called the North Pole. I have been wanting to go there for years! I saw on the website that it really gets busy after Thanksgiving. It was a great decision. I was so glad we went. It was a little cold but so much fun! The girls got to see Santa and ride a ton of rides. It wasn't crowded either!!

Turkey Day 2009

Yummy Yummy Yummy!! I hope you had as wonderful of a Thanksgiving as we had! It was great times with family and great food! It was great to have Emily, Aunt Kay, Uncle Bill, and Uncle Ryan and Aunt Jaclyn with us this year!! We had all the traditional fixins. And we all stuffed ourselves until we couldn't eat no more. There was tons of food. We even made 2 turkeys just for leftovers. I love the leftovers almost as much as the real meal itself.

Girls Day Out

On Saturday, I got to spend the entire day with Ava. I signed us up for a hairstyling class. It was so much fun. And I learned a lot of new techniques and styles. Ava was such a great sport sitting for a hour while I experimented different hairstyles on her. After our little class, we went out to lunch with our friends Marie and Claire. I am so lucky to have girls to do these kind of fun things with. It was really great spending some much needed one on one time with her. She is growing up way to fast!

She's a Big Girl Now!

I decided that tonight was the night to begin feeding Rachel solid foods! I struggled with this. Do I wait until 6 months? Some things I read said to do breast milk exclusively for 6 months. Other info said to begin solids anytime between 4-6 mos. She's not sleeping through the night yet so that helped with my decision for sure! Last night, my Mom was holding her while she was eating. Every time my Mom would open her mouth to take a bite, Rachel would open her month and want a bite! That was enough for me! I figured she knows what food is and what to do with it. I can't NOT give her "real food" now! It would be like torture to eat in front of her!
I plan to make all of her baby food. Since it was a last minute thing, I was scrambling to find something to feed her. So, I mixed avocado with bananas. She has already had oatmeal cereal with bananas so I figured it was safe to add avocado to the mix. What a proud Mommy I was! She did wonderfully! But no more baby! And she even sits in a high chair now. My baby is growing up way to fast!! :(
