Labor Day

Well, Labor Day weekend was definitely full of Labor for us! Especially Mike. It was my brilliant idea to tackle our next big project.. the family room! Fortunatly for me, my job is always the same... keeping the girls entertained and out of the way!
On Friday night we had a GREAT cookout with our new neighbors. It was fun to visit and to watch the kids play. The food was wonderful too!
We woke up bright and early Saturday morning and began the destruction. It took us just about all day to get the nasty beams down. Little patching to do except for the last beam which was glued to the ceiling. So, it torn the texture off.

We had lunch with our neighbors again because of all of the leftovers! I think that we are all dreading the end of summer. The end of the kids playing for hours on the street so we wanted to get as much in this weekend as possible. Then we went to our usual Saturday night mass. After church we went out for pizza with Grandma and Pa Pa. It was great to see Pa Pa after being in Texas for the past few weeks.

On Sunday, we worked more on the family room. We got all of the beams down, the shelving down, and the ugly paneling behind the fireplace down. And removed the fireplace mantel. Not sure what we are going to do about that. What a difference that makes! And just a few holes but a lot of texturing to do!

Sunday night, we had a cookout at Grandma and Pa Pa's house. We decided to walk! It took us a whole 13 minutes to walk there! We are so excited to be so close!
This morning Mike finished removing the rest of the paneling, and the base boards on the lower walls. Not sure if we knew what we were in store for with this little project. It's going to be a long time before we have our family room back in order but it's looking better already. Now for the texturing, and painting. Our goal is to have everything done by Oct. 1. My husband is such a great sport! Thanks dear for ALL of your hard work this weekend!!

Rachel had her own fun this weekend. She has started to roll over! She know rolls from her back onto her stomach. This makes her very upset because her arm gets stuck underneath her and she HATES being on her stomach. Here are some pictures of her sleeping through the destruction on her side.
